About Us

A real home.
Real people.

Highland Paws is a small, owner-run dog care service in the Southern Highlands, specialising in small and medium dogs. Just a proper home with a fully fenced yard, two very sociable resident dogs, and people who genuinely think about your dog's wellbeing the same way you do.

We focus on smaller dogs because that's what our home, our setup, and our own two are genuinely suited to. Every dog that stays is treated as part of the household — sleeping where our dogs sleep, walking where our dogs walk, and getting real, personal attention every single day.

Fully fenced. Fully insured. All dogs must be desexed and C5 vaccinated.

Good to Know

Frequently Asked
Questions.

What size dogs do you take?

We specialise in small to medium dogs — broadly speaking, up to around 20kg. This suits our home, our own dogs, and the way we like to work. Cavaliers, Spaniels, Dachshunds, Whippets, French Bulldogs, smaller Poodles and Doodles — that's very much our world. If you're not sure whether your dog is the right fit, just ask. We'll always be honest.

What vaccinations does my dog need?

All dogs in our care must have a current C5 vaccination — this covers distemper, hepatitis, parvovirus, and both strains of kennel cough. We'll ask for proof of vaccination when you book. If you're not sure what your dog is up to date with, your vet can check and advise.

Does my dog need to be desexed?

Yes — all dogs in our care must be desexed. This is a firm requirement for boarding, daycare, and walking. It keeps our home calm and safe for every dog here, including our own two.

What's your cancellation policy?

We ask for at least 48 hours notice for cancellations or changes to bookings. Cancellations made with less than 48 hours notice may forfeit any deposit paid. We understand things come up — just get in touch as soon as you can and we'll do our best to work with you.

How many dogs do you take at once?

We keep a maximum of two dogs in our home at any one time, and we focus on small to medium dogs — typically up to around 20kg. This is a deliberate choice that suits our home, our own dogs, and the level of care we want to provide. It's not about excluding anyone — it's about knowing where we do our best work. Availability can fill up fast, especially on weekends and during school holidays, so we recommend booking ahead.

Can I book both my dogs together?

Yes — two dogs from the same family are welcome to board or attend daycare together, and they count as both of our available spots. We offer a small discount when booking two dogs from the same household. Get in touch to discuss pricing when you enquire.

What should I bring for an overnight stay?

We ask that you bring your dog's regular food (portioned per meal if possible), any medications they're on, their lead and collar, and something familiar from home like their bed or a favourite toy. Familiar scents help dogs settle in more quickly. We provide water, fresh bedding, and lots of company.

Do you have your own dog?

Yes — we have two dogs of our own. Both are friendly and well-socialised, and are a big part of what makes our home a comfortable environment for visiting dogs. We always do a careful introduction during the meet and greet to make sure everyone gets along before confirming any booking.

Is your yard fully fenced?

Yes — our yard is fully fenced and secure. Dogs have plenty of room to run, sniff, and do what dogs do, without us needing to worry about escapes. We still supervise all outdoor time, but the secure yard means your dog can stretch out and enjoy themselves safely.

How does the wedding service work?

We collect your dog from wherever they're staying, bring them to your ceremony or photo location, keep them calm and happy throughout, and then take them home with us for a comfortable overnight stay. We handle everything so you can focus on your day. We recommend a meet and greet beforehand so your dog knows us before the big day. Wedding bookings start from $250 — get in touch to discuss your specific needs.
